A place to relax. A place to enjoy the weather. A place for conversation. A place to dine. A place to unwind.
Flowers. A view. Butterflies. Fresh air. Ripening tomatoes.
It's our condo balcony. All 40 feet by 6 feet of it.
And it's our own private Garden of Eden.
Serpents not invited. They can't crawl up 16 stories anyways.

Hi Brian... Will you please come to Dallas and make my balcony look as nice as yours? Just remember, I need hearty and drought resistent plants that do well in 90-105 degree heat!
I do ..... and if it wasn't raining I would toss up a few photos but too ugly out. Looks relaxing though... make sure you serve your wife dinner out there from time to time
Brian, the flowers are simply gorgeous and I swear it is Eden too. What a great shot too with the butterfly.
Very nice. Here in Charlottesville, we are blessed with some of the most beautiful views of the forests, rivers, farms, horses and of course the Blue Ridge Mountains. I understand why Thomas Jefferson loved it here so much.

Don't count the serpants out as they can get pretty high but if they do you can be sure they will be pretty tired out.
Our back yard is our get away also. Nice view the flowers add so much.
Brian- Absolutely gorgeous photos of colorful flowers and your own private garden of eden. It is so pretty on your balcony. We see snakes often in our gardens here.

Absolutely beautiful! I have to say I am working on my garden at home but it's not a "Garden of Eden" yet!

DESIREE: This time of year we actually eat all of our meals out on the balcony. It's wonderful.
GARY: Thanks! I snapped the butterfly shots around 6:30 a.m. and had to be quiet because my wife was still asleep.
KAREN: It's been many years since I've visited Charlottesville and even then it was for a very short visit for a wedding. I need to get back there at some point.
NEAL: Yes -- and they are almost ripe!
LENN: We certainly don't have deer problems here on the 16th floor. I'd be really scared and freaked out if I woke up to find a deer on our balcony for more reasons than one!
FRAN: They are the biggest balconies around! We love it.
DENISE: The only animals we get up here are doves, hummingbirds, other birds, and butterflies.
TERRY: We love this time of year with the flowers in full bloom.

WoW, I'm amazed that the butterflies are visiting your balcony garden 16 floors up. I have a garden on my second floor balcony and have yet to see a butterfly visit it (although the mourning doves visit regularly).

Brian Our Garden of Eden is now a town home backyard - it is a registered wildlife habitat - we moved from an acre - we like our "petite" yard because it backs to the Occoquan Reservoir preserve and we see "serpents" of all types. We're not old enough for a condo balcony yet, Karen
JO-ANNE: Out of curiosity, I looked it up the other day and some butterflies can fly up to 10,000 feet high! Thanks for your comments. We absolutely love the balcony garden.
