When They Tell You Their Company is #1, Ask for the Proof!

Numerous agents and companies go around touting:

"We're #1"

"Top Company in Sales"

"Highest Sales Volume in the Region"

"We Sell More"

"Highest Number of Sales"

We're #1

Anybody can say it, but can they all prove it?

That's what's important.

Next time an agent says that their company is the best, ask for the proof!

REALTOR Magazine's July 2008 issue ranks the Top 100 real estate brokerages nationwide by 2007 Transaction Sides and by 2007 Sales Volume.

Here's some facts about my company:

RE/MAX Allegiance

#23 for Transactions Sides and #30 for Sales Volume in the Country!

Only 1 other company in the metropolitan D.C. area was in the top 50 on either list and that was Long & Foster.

It's important to note that RE/MAX Allegiance achieved its position with 1,150 REALTORS, while Long & Foster ranks high largely due to its 15,607 sales associates.

With an average of 10 versus 6 transactions per agent, RE/MAX Allegiance agents have 67% more transactions than the average Long & Foster agent.

RE/MAX Allegiance had nearly 11,000 transaction sides in 2007 accounting for over $4 billion in sales, more sales volume than some companies almost twice the size!

Try the Best!

We are a great bunch of agents :-)  Having been with the other company before joining RE/MAX Allegiance I am proud to be where I am today!

Cindy & Brian:  It is interesting to see how statistics can be diced to show how successful a company is.  I was suprised to hear who is nuimber in listings and sales in Prince William County today.

Brian - According to your stats, isn't it more accurate that RE/MAX Allegiance agents have 67% more transactions?

CHRIS:  It can be interesting.  So, who's tops in PWC?

TCHAKA:  Thanks for the correction.  I've made it in the post.

THESA:  Before I started with this RE/MAX franchise, I worked at a mom & pop (or more accurately Mom & Son) brokerage for about a year and a half -- I think we had 6 or 7 agents total.

It reminds me of a quote from a college football recruit who said "the last ten colleges told me they had the top five engineering program."

Brian,  Aren't we just the berries?  Arthur and I became RE/MAX agents in 1980 when nobody thought it would last,  He left to "be on his own" in 1998.  That means he works for me with no RE/MAX fees - it took him 18 years to figure it out, but what do you expect from a guy from New Jersey,  Karen

Hey Brian,

We have a local car dealership that advertises they are the Number One Chevy dealer in the city where they are located.  What they forget to mention is that they are the only Chevy dealership in that city!  :)

KAREN:  Thanks for your comment.  Obviously the RE/MAX concept lasted and thrived.

NOT YET LICENSED:  By the way, when do you expect to get your license?  When you are the only one, you have to really try to not be number one!  And you are simultaneously the best & the worst in town.

I guess the proof is in the pudding..LOL  I've seen adds in the local papers of agents saying " we can sell your home FAST". If you look at their MLS listings, you'll see that some have been around for a long time.

If your MLS is like ours, you can manipulate the numbers to make them read just about anything. That's the scary part!
