Northern Virginia's Most Expensive Home Sales for July 2011

Are you wondering about Northern Virginia real estate and pondering what has sold recently?

Here's some information about the most expensive home sales in Northern Virginia (Arlington County, Alexandria City, Fairfax City, Fairfax County, and Falls Church City) for July 2011. All information was obtained through MRIS.

Overall, there were 91 Northern Virginia home sales topping $1 million during July 2011. This is a significant decrease from the 128 sold in June but still more than sold in May or April of this year.  

Currently, there are 784 homes on the market in Northern Virginia with list prices topping $1 million - this is just a slight decrease from the number that were on the market at this time last month.


Most Expensive Home Sales in Northern VirginiaSingle Family Detached Homes:

  • 311 S. St. Asaph Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 -- Sold on July 29th for $3,500,000
    This Old Town Alexandria home was built in 1870 and features 12 foot ceilings, 8 fireplaces, orginal woodwork and floors.  With 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and a swimming pool, this 4,801 square foot home is a charmer.

  • 6106 Woodmont Road, Alexandria, VA 22307 -- Sold on July 1st for $2,325,000
    Located in Belle Haven, this home was custom built in 2004 and invites you in with a wonderful front porch to view the formal living and dining rooms, gourmet kitchen, and family room.  Completing the picture are five bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and a climate-controlled wine cellar on the lower level.


  • 7208 Dulany Drive, McLean, VA 22101 -- Sold on July 15th for $2,270,000
    Sold for $230K under the asking price, this home in Elmwood Estates sits on 1 acre of lush foliage.  It was built in 1955, but this 5,782 square foot home was extensively renovated in 2009.  There's a synthetic slate roof and energy efficient windows, as well as 6 bedrooms and 6 full bathrooms.


  • 8208 E. Boulevard Drive, Alexandria, VA 22308 -- Sold on July 1st for $2,050,000
    Almost 4,000 square feet of space in this 1976-built Colonial in Alexandria.  The home was expanded and completely renovated with great attention to detail and craftsmanship.  4 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms and 6 fireplaces!




  • 101 Quay Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 -- Sold on July 29th for $1,750,000
    This brick end townhouse overlooks Founders Park in Old Town Alexandria and the Potomac River.  It sold for very close to the asking price and was built in 1971.


  • 17 Wharf Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 -- Sold on July 27th for $1,633,750
    Built in 1998, this Fords Landing townhouse is on the waterfront of the Potomac River with over 3,100 square feet of lving space and great views of d.C. from every level of the 3 bedroom home.


  • 708 Fords Landing Way, Alexandria, VA 22314 -- Sold on July 29th for $1,340,000
    Another Fords Landing townhouse, this four level brick end unit home has an elevator, tall ceilings, and a gourmet chef's kitchen with granite counters and beech cabinets.


  • 38 Wolfe Street #25, Alexandria, VA 22314 -- Sold on July 22nd for $1,150,000
    Located at Harborside in Old Town Alexandria, this townhouse was built in 1993 and has an elevator, 2 car garage, library, hardwood floors, and a 30 foot boat slip that conveys.



  • 600 Second Street #301, Alexandria, VA 22314 -- Sold on July 22nd for $1,015,000

This is a great indication that homeowners with money are still investing in homes.  In our area, there are very few selling at these prices.
