We Survived the Itch!

The Infamous Seven Year Itch!

I think it's a myth.  Not once in the past year did either of us feel any itch as far as I can tell.

7 Year Itch

Tomorrow marks my 8 year wedding anniversary!  I'm truly blessed to be united with Deborah, the woman I love.

Another 8 year milestone is approaching.  In less than 5 months, I'll have had my real estate license for 8 years.  While far less significant than my marriage license, I have not felt much of an itch here either.

Like my marriage, my real estate career has blossomed over the last 7+ years.

The only itch is to keep on growing and achieving new levels of success.

I want to sincerely thank all of my friends, clients, colleagues, and most

especially my wife in supporting my real estate career.

Please Pardon this Blogging Intermission

Many times I wish there were more hours in the day.  I've tried stealing hours from sleeping, but that doesn't work so well, especially in a career that involves some time on the road.  To be honest, I can't even imagine yet what it will be like when we (God willing) have children.

My normal blogging schedule has been severely interrupted as of late due to several factors:

  • Becoming a Managing Broker (back in March) and overseeing an office of 40 agents.

  • Two weeks of teaching real estate pre-licensing classes from 5-9 p.m. every evening.

  • Being busy with a bunch of new business including 1/2 dozen new listings and quite a few new buyers.

  • Teaching blogging classes to our agents.

  • Making sure my wife still remembers who I am and what I look like! (This one is most important!)

Intermission

Don't worry.  I'm hoping that by next week I can get back to some semblance of a normal blogging schedule and continue to provide you with some of the best real estate information and news and market reports about the Northern Virginia real estate market.

Thanks for your patience, readership, comments, and friendship.

Take solace that I will return after this intermission.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Signs of a Changing Market

It's 2009 or at least it is supposed to be.  This week it seems like it could be 2004 at least in my little corner of the real estate world.

Here's a few signs of the changing market that I've experienced this week alone:

  • 2 offers on my townhouse listing in Alexandria.

  • 10 people taking my pre-licensing class -- they want to be REALTORS? (Don't they read the newspapers and listen to t.v. news?  The real estate market is supposed to be horrible, remember...)

  • Put a house on the market yesterday.  Finished entering the listing into the MLS around 11 a.m.   By 2 p.m., 3 agents had visited the property and one called me indicating she'd be writing an offer.  Today I have another agent sending an offer as well.  2 offers in less than 24 hours on the market!

  • In less than 12 hours after I announced it, 35 agents in my brokerage have signed up for a preview tour of an ultra-luxury condomium in Arlington.

  • Yesterday, I attended an economic briefing by Dr. Stephen Fuller, Director for the Center of Regional Analysis at George Mason University.  Following Ben Bernanke's lead, Dr. Fuller declared that the recession is officially over.  He expects home sales and inventory numbers to come roaring back around March of next year.

The real estate market is dead.  Business is slow.

I certainly don't think so.

"We Want the 3 Not the 97!": A Video Invitation to Join RE/MAX Allegiance

Are you a real estate agent looking for a home?

Silly question, I know.

If you're licensed as a real estate agent or broker and you're not looking for a home, it probably means you have no clients and no business.  Either that or you are so successful that all you do is prospect, market, and list homes for sale and you've got a team of buyers agents running around town helping clients look for a home.

I'm talking about a different type of home -- a Real Estate Brokerage that you can call home!

If you are a Virginia or D.C. REALTOR (or know someone who is), please take a look at the video below (and/or forward it on) that was produced the other week at my office in McLean, Virginia.  In it, Ellen Ing, our Vice President of Career Development, and myself explain the advantages of affiliating with RE/MAX Allegiance.

We're looking for a few good agents (to paraphrase a line from the Marines recruiting ads)!

Watch the video below and you'll understand the title of this post.

Back to School? Real Estate School - Classes Start September 14th

The kids are back in school.

Back to School

Now it's your turn.  Time for real estate school.

Are YOU Ready to become a REALTOR?

Do you want to get involved in an exciting career where the upside potential is unlimited? If you're not interested in taking up this opportunity, how about your friends, family members, or colleagues. Perhaps you're bored of the 9-5 daily grind, long commute, and cubicle squatting.

Click here for a short entertaining video on the Recipe for Real Estate Success.

If you want real estate to be in your future, well, you are in luck.

TAKE THE COURSE. PASS THE EXAM. BECOME A REALTOR.

Having trained two dozen people this summer to take and pass the Virginia Real Estate Salesperson Exam (and helped get them ready for starting a career in real estate), I'll be teaching another session of the real estate pre-licensing class starting on September 14th.

Here's the chance to take the class with a real estate pro. I'm actively listing and selling homes here in Northern Virginia, managing an office of 40 professional RE/MAX REALTORS, and have appeared live on the Neil Cavuto Show on Fox News discussing real estate.

Here's a short video testimonial from a graduate of my June real estate class:

Ready to get started?

The classes start on September 14th in Arlington, Virginia:

Location: RE/MAX Allegiance 3315 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA 22207

Here's some photos of our training center:
